Meeting Is Rescheduled for LCTA
May 30 Is New Date

The date of the meeting about the future of the Les Cheneaux Islands Tourist Association has been changed to Wednesday, May 30, at Cedarville Inn at 5:15 p.m. The meeting was previously scheduled for May 23, but was rescheduled to avoid conflict with the Cedarville High School athletic banquet.

Les Cheneaux Islands area residents, business owners, and interested persons are being asked to present their opinions and ideas about how to promote the area through the postal service, e-mail, Web site content, and the Welcome Center. The poor economy is threatening the future of the organization, however, which depends on a local room tax charged to raise money for tourism promotion in the area and Michigan. Lodging establishments that are members charge an additional 2% tax on rooms to fund the tourism promotion.

Those who plan to attend the meeting are asked to call the Welcome Center at (906) 484- 3935 to sign up.
