1950s To Be Theme for L.C. Chamber's Bridge Celebration

The Les Cheneaux Chamber of Commerce will celebrate the 1950s this summer, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Mackinac Bridge.

"Celebrate the 1950s" will be the theme of Independence Day festivities throughout the first week of July and at the July 4 parade. As always, military service men and women and local military veterans will be honored in the parade.

Residents and visitors are reminded to save holiday lights for the second annual Venetian Boat Parade Saturday, July 7. This year's parade of lighted and decorated boats will start in Cedarville Bay at 9 p.m., and travel west to Hessel Municipal Marina. In addition to the lighted boats, there will be awards for parade participants in costume, lighted boat houses, and lighted boat docks. Coordinators encourage everyone on the water to decorate docks and boat houses for the summer, and for this event.
