Elizabeth (nee Cruickshank) Pollard lived most of her life in Cedarville, and ran a summer resort on Lakeside Road for many years.
Mrs. Pollard was 88 when she passed away Friday, May 11, 2007, in Palm Springs, Florida, at the home of her daughter, Mary Mills.
She was born February 9, 1919, to William and Frances Cruickshank on Lime Island in the St. Marys River.
She was graduated from Pickford High School.
She married John W. Pollard in 1938.
After she began spending time away from the Eastern Upper Peninsula, Mrs. Pollard enjoyed returning to the area each summer. She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Cedarville and Our Savior Lutheran Church in Lake Worth, Florida.
Mrs. Pollard is survived by her daughter, Mary Mills of Palm Springs; a son and his family, William and Darla Pollard of Greenacres, Florida; three grandchildren and their families, Butch Pollard and Judy Mills of Drummond Island; Amie and Curtis Woodruff of Wisconsin, Karl and Elizabeth Pollard of Columbia Heights, Minnesota; eight great-grandchildren; one brother and his family, Raymond and Dorothy Cruickshank of Cedarville, and one sister, Helen Portice of Pickford.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John, and three brothers, William, Samuel, and Marshall Cruickshank.
A memorial service will be Saturday, June 2, at 10:30 a.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church in Cedarville. The Reverend George Kaiser will officiate. Friends may gather at the church as early as 9:30 a.m.
