Saints Baseball Runner-up in American Legion Invite

The St. Ignace Saints finished as runner-up during the first St. Ignace American Legion Round Robin Baseball Invitational at the Kiwanis Sports Complex Saturday, May 19.
The pitching combination of Andy Tamlyn and Lewie Mullins lifted St. Ignace to a 7-5 win over Newberry in the opener before falling to Harbor Springs 6-5 in the championship game.
St. Ignace scored one run in the first inning, three in the second, two in the third, and one in the fifth during the win over the Indians and held off the visitors after Newberry scored one run in the second, two in the third, and two in the sixth.
Saints Stats: Shawn Cowell, three hits, two runs; Andy Tamlyn, two hits, two runs; Lewie Mullins and Rob Robinson, one hit and one run; Stephen Bielat, one run; and Bryant Danielson, one hit.
In the championship game, Harbor Springs led 4-3 after the first inning before the Saints scored two runs in the third inning to take the lead. The Rams notched the win, however, with two runs in the sixth inning.

Saints Offense Explodes
for 35 Runs Against Wildcats
St. Ignace's offense exploded for 35 runs during the 20-0 and 15-0 shutout non-conference victories over the Wolverine Wildcats at the Kiwanis Sports Complex Thursday, May 17.
The Saints scored all their runs in the first two innings, with five in the first and 15 in the second.

Saints Drop Pair
in Invitational
The St. Ignace girls softball team fell to the Newberry Indians 7-1 in the opener of the American Legion Invitational and were shut out 9-0 during the consolation game against Harbor Springs Saturday, May 19.
The Saints held a 1-0 lead after the third inning before the Indians scored all their runs in the fourth inning.

Wolverine in Twinbill
The St. Ignace girsls softball team swept Wolverine 6-2 and 8-2 behind the strong pitching arm of senior Jamie Krug Thursday, May 17.
In the opener, the Saints scored all their runs in the fifth inning after trailing 2-0.
Saints Stats: Ashly Peterson, two hits, one run, two RBI's; Misti Gamble, one hit, two RBI's; Katie Stelzer, Samantha Wright, Emily Sposito, and Laura Rickley, one hit, one run; Jamie Krug, one run.
During the nightcap, the Saints scored three runs in the first inning, two in the third, and three in the fourth en route to the doubleheader sweep.
