The shotgun start will be at 6 a.m. The contest will end at 4 p.m. Coolers will be sealed at the dock, to be reopened at a public weigh-in ceremony at 5 p.m. at the marina circle. A benefit auction will take place Saturday, June 2, for Bob and Linda Sarocke at the Village Inn on Ontario Street in DeTour. This benefit is being held to help defray the cost of medical expenses while Linda is undergoing cancer treatment. Marge Simpkins called to inform us of the annual rummage sale at Sacred Heart Catholic Hall Friday, June 29, Saturday, June 30, and Sunday, July 1. Drop-off dates start Friday, June 1, and continue every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9 a.m. to noon at the hall. There will be a bake sale. This particular rummage sale has been a popular one. Don't discard your item, bring it to the hall in good condition.

News from our friends at Caribou Lake: The Caribou Lake Association held the first meeting of the year at Linger Longer Resort Saturday, May 26, at 7 p.m. Jeff Hiney and Scott Lucy are looking for volunteers to help fill about 200 sandbags at Scott Lucy's house on the South Road (Hungry Hills). They're needed to fortify the west bank between the dam and Ray Danyo's house. Volunteers were to meet Saturday, May 26, before the main meeting.

Alan E. Pike sadly announced that he will not be available to continue the position of newsletter editor of the Caribou Lake Association. Alan will not be available to write a newsletter for July or Labor Day, but will gladly help someone transition into the position. Alan for always sends us a copy of Caribou Lake activities.

A thought: We could learn a lesson from the weather - it pays no attention to criticism.
