Welcome Center Contest Offers Bridge Tower Tour Area visitors and residents can register to win a Mackinac Bridge tower tour this summer and fall. The contest is in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Mackinac Bridge and is sponsored by the St. Ignace Welcome Center, St. Ignace Area Visitors Bureau, and the St. Ignace Chamber of Commerce. The winner and a guest will get a rare and spectacular view from 552 feet above the Straits of Mackinac. "We are always looking at creative ways to give back to our community and to encourage people to visit northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula," said Mike Lilliquist, manager of the St. Ignace Welcome Center. "All people have to do is visit our area this summer or fall and register to win an experience of a lifetime." Visitors are encouraged to cross the bridge and register to win the tower tour at the St. Ignace Chamber of Commerce, St. Ignace Visitors Bureau, and the St. Ignace Welcome Center. The Welcome Center is on the east side of I-75, just beyond the bridge toll booths. The 50th anniversary of the Mackinac Bridge will be celebrated throughout 2007 with a variety of Straits-area events. The last day to register is October 31, and the drawing will be held November 1, with the tower tour to be scheduled in 2008. |
