Plans Announced for Pickford Grads Pickford High School Principal Neil Harrison announced some of the future plans of the Class of 2007 during commencement ceremonies Saturday, May 26, at Pickford gymnasium. He also announced and distributed scholarships to students who qualified. The following information was provided by the school and students at the time of graduation: Lindsay Bawks - plans to major in radiology at Ferris State University in Big Rapids. She received a Hughes Sisters Scholarship, Pickford Lions Club Scholarship, and Pickford Staff Scholarship. Sarah Bew - plans to attend Lake Superior State University (LSSU) in Sault Ste. Marie. Alicia Bjunes - plans to attend Grand Valley State University in Grand Rapids and major in secondary education. She received a Hughes Sisters Scholarship, Michigan Merit Award, and Michigan Competitive Scholarship. Scott Coullard - plans to attend Northern Michigan University in Marquette and major in art and design. He received a Michigan Merit Award, Michigan Competitive Scholarship, Hank and Marion Rye Memorial Scholarship, and a Northern Michigan University Outstanding Achievement Award. Jordan Ernst - plans to study chemistry at Alma College in Alma. He received a Michigan Merit Award, Michigan Competitive Scholarship, Lake Superior State University's Distinguished Award and 449th Bombardment scholarships, Alma Trustee Honors Scholarship, Hughes Sisters Scholarship, and a Veterans of Foreign Wars Scholarship. Veronica Gough - plans to attend Hope College in Holland. She received a Hope Heritage Scholarship. George Hart - plans to major in nursing at Kirtland Community College in Roscommon. He received a Michigan Merit Award. LaTara Hart - plans to major in business and accounting at Bay Mills Community College in Brimley. Raymond Hill - plans to serve in a branch of the United States military. Brittany Kucharczyk - will attend Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant and major in physical therapy. She received a LSSU Board of Trustees Academic Achievement scholarship, a Michigan Merit Award, and a Central Michigan University Board of Trustees Honors Scholarship. Jessie Ledy - plans to major in criminal justice at Delta College in Saginaw. She received a Firack Fourth Generation Scholarship. Sarah Mastaw - will major in criminal justice at LSSU in Sault Ste. Marie. She received a Hughes Sisters Scholarship. Victor Merchand - plans to attend Bay De Noc Community College in Escanaba. Caitlin Mortinsen - plans to attend Delta College in Saginaw and major in elementary education. She received a Hughes Sisters Scholarship and Saginaw Valley State University Scholarship. Brianna Nasser - will attend Bay Mills Community College in Brimley. Chelsey O'Connor - plans to major in criminal justice at LSSU in Sault Ste. Marie. Clayton Peffers - plans to major in criminal justice at Bay Mills Community College in Brimley. He received Kamper Tire and Bob McDonald scholarships. Kaylynn Portice - will major in community leadership and political science at Aquinas College in Grand Rapids. She received a Michigan Merit Award, Hughes Sisters Scholarship, Aquinas Academic Leadership Scholarship, Alma College Presidential Scholarship, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Scholarship. Nicholas Raden - plans to study clinical laboratory science at Northern Michigan University in Marquette. He earned Hughes Sisters, Les Cheneaux Islands Wildlife, and Pickford Lions Club scholarships. Renae Reich - will study elementary education at Alma College in Alma. She received the Michigan Merit Award, Hughes Sisters Scholarship, Michigan Competitive Scholarship, a Lake Superior State University Academic Excellence award, and Pickford Lions Club, Pickford Presbyterian Church, and Alma College Presidential scholarships. Kristen Schmitigal - will study audio production and engineering at the Institute of Production and Recording in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She received a Michigan Merit Award, Hughes Sisters Scholarship, and an anonymous scholarship. Marie Snider - plans to attend Ferris State University in Big Rapids. She earned the Michigan Merit Award, and Hughes Sisters, Pickford Lions Club, Kamper Tire, Saginaw Valley State University, and LSSU Academic Achievement scholarships. Leonie Sparling - will return to Germany to finish her second- ary school education and hopes to return to the United States for college. Katie Spence - plans to study business management at North Central Michigan College in Petoskey. Janet Thompson - plans to study echocardiography at the Michigan School of Cardiovascular Sonography in Gaylord. She receive EUPCA and Huntington Bank scholarships. Valerie Traynor - will attend the Up North School of Cosmetology in Sault Ste. Marie or Petoskey. She received the Michigan Merit Award, Michigan Competitive Scholarship, and a Cloverland Electric scholarship. Katelyn Walker - plans to study psychology at LSSU in Sault Ste. Marie. She received a Michigan Merit Award, and Hughes Sisters, Michigan Competitive, National Office Products, and Pickford Staff scholarships. Keenan Wojnaroski - will study corrections at Bay Mills Community College in Brimley. |
