Man Arrested for Knife Attack A Fenton man was arrested early Saturday morning, May 26, for slashing an off-duty police officer with a knife at a St. Ignace bar and driving under the influence of alcohol. He was also arrested for parole violation. He and a companion from Brighton were arrested by state troopers from the Newberry post near the Cut River Bridge after they fled from Timmy Lee's Pub in St. Ignace on West US-2 after having been involved in a scuffle. According to police, the Fenton man was arguing with another person when Jason Marshall, an offduty policeman for Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians, intervened to break up the fight. The Fenton man allegedly pulled out a fish fillet knife and slashed Mr. Marshall on the hand before fleeing the scene. Mr. Marshall was treated at Mackinac Straits Hospital for a laceration. The suspect posted a $50,000 bond. His arraignment is scheduled for the weekend of June 6. |
