Five Valedictorians for Rudyard's '07 Class

Briana Kangas
Jonathan Norton, Briana Kangas, Maria Meehan, Sara English, and Charles Rye have been named valedictorians at Rudyard High School for the Class of 2007. Each student has maintained a perfect 4.0 or better grade point average (GPA).

Jonathan Norton, son of Bob and Wendi Norton, has achieved a 4.0537 GPA in high school. He has been a member of the National Honor Society, Youth Advisory Council, Scholastic Achievement Council, and the High School Band. He has been a Student Council representative. He participated in hockey, junior varsity basketball, varsity baseball, and golf.

Mr. Norton plans to study premedicine at Lyman Briggs School of Natural Science at Michigan State University. He has two brothers, Brian, 20, and Tanner, 5.

Briana Kangas, daughter of Bryan and Marcy Kangas, has earned a 4.0267 GPA in high school. She has been involved in drama, chorale, chorus, band, quiz bowl, solo and ensemble festivals, and National Honor Society.

Miss Kangas plans to attend Northern Michigan University and earn a bachelor's degree in hospitality management. She has one brother, Christopher.

Jon Norton
Maria Meehan, daughter of Patrick and Suesan Meehan, has earned a 4.0148 GPA. She has participated in National Honor Society, chorale, solo and ensemble, drama, hospice, Relay for Life, and various church activities. She is the president of Stu - dent Council and was junior class pre si - dent. She received the Michigan Merit Award, Residential Life Scho - larship, and the Prin ci - pal's Award.

Miss Meehan plans to attend Ferris State Unive - rsity, where she has been accepted in the Honors Program. She intends to study Applied Biology/Pre-Med and Nuclear Medicine. She has two older brothers, John and Joseph.

Sara English, daughter of Ken and Cynthia English, has earned a 4.0138 GPA during high school. She participated in cross country, track, drama, chorale, solo and ensemble (vocal), and National Honor Society. She is also a member of the Rudyard Christian Reformed Church, where she is a children's worship leader, Young People officer, nursery attendant, vacation Bible school leader, and is active in fundraising for Rudyard Christian School.

Charles Rye
Miss English plans to earn a degree in business at either Dav - en port or Ferris State University. She is the fourth child of six in her family.

Charles Rye, son of Kennedy and Jacque - line Rye, earned a 4.0063 GPA during high school. He has been active in Rudyard High School Fine Arts, Quiz Bowl Team, National Honor So - ciety, Drama Club, and has been a Student Council representative.

Mr. Rye plans to attend Wes tern Michigan University. He has one sister, Jesse.

Graduation will be Sunday, June 3, at 2 p.m. at Rudyard High School.
