Mackinac City's Class of 2007 Is Led by McFarland, Closs

Spencer McFarland
Spencer McFarland is valedictorian and Chase Closs is salutatorian for the Class of 2007 at Mackinaw City High School.

Spencer McFarland, the son of Dave and Marilyn McFarland, has earned a 3.72 grade point average (GPA) during high school.

He has been involved in Straits Area Youth Advisory Council, band, hockey, cross country, Straits Area Resort Ministry Youth Group, Straits Area Concert Band, and National Honor Society.

He is a volunteer performer for the Fort Michilimackinac Historical Reenactment, and a Sunday school teacher at Church of the Straits. He was a national finalist in the Rube Goldberg Engineering Competition, was awarded Second Team All Conference for Cross Country, and is a Class D MHSAA Scholar- Athlete recipient.

Mr. McFarland plans to attend the United States Coast Guard Academy and study engineering.

Chase Closs, the son of Lynn and Debby Closs, has achieved a 3.659 GPA during high school. He has participated in basketball, baseball, cross country, Straits Area Resort Ministry Program, Student Council, National Honor Society, Fire Up, the V e s p e r Cruise, and is an altar server at St. Anthony's Parish. He received All-Con- ference, All-Region, All-Area, All-State, and All- Academic honors in basketball.

Chase Closs
Mr. Closs plans to attend Albion College to study pre-medicine.

Graduation will be Saturday, June 2, at 7 p.m. in the gymnasium at Mackinaw City High School.
