DeTour Takes Boys and Girls EUPC Golf Championships

The DeTour Raiders boys and girls golf teams won the two-day Eastern Upper Peninsula Conference championships at Wild Bluff in Brimley Tuesday, May 22, and The Rock on Drummond Island Thursday, May 24, a 36-hole challenge. Craig Wasnich of DeTour and Chelsey O'Connor both earned conference medalist honors.

DeTour's boys team recorded a score of 690 to take first place, followed by Cedarville with 751, Brimley with 824, Pickford with 863, and Engadine with 932.

DeTour's Craig Wasnich carded a 36-hole score of 158 to edge out teammate Zach Melvin at 159 for conference low medalist honors; Nathan Klamerus scored 184, and Thomas Worden 187.

DeTour girls team registered 994, followed by Pickford with 1030, and Cedarville with 1033. Engadine and Brimley team scoring was incomplete.

Boys Results

Cedarville

Taylor Smith led the Trojans with 181, followed by Jordan Duncan 189, Matt Nelson 190, and Jason Duncan 191.

Brimley

Kyle Waters 204, Corie Quinn 205, Justin Lawson 212, Christian Perron 100 (18 holes), Brent Aikens 101 (18 holes).

Pickford

Zach Mortinsen 193, Dylan Rye 208, McKinley Portice 221, and Mikael Cantin 241.

Engadine

Michael Bennett 211, Robert Beaudoin 225, Joe VanHise 247, Sung Hart 119 (18 holes), and Michael Mast 130 (18 holes).

Girls Results

DeTour

Erin Worden 222, Ashley LaPointe 252, Missy Ellis 256, and Ashlyn Bosley 264.

Pickford

Chelsey O'Connor carded a 36- hole score of 206 for low medalist honors. Following her were Ali Priskhorn 241, Melissa Kucharczyk 275, and Jamie Rifenberg 308.

Cedarville

Charlene Brissette 230, Lindsay McLeod 253, Kara Griffin 280, Jessie Duncan 136 (18 holes), Rebecca Bickham 144 (18 holes).

Engadine

Brenda Albrecht 287, Elisa Hobbs 275, Tara Burke 157 (18 holes), and Tiajanna Sherbrook 157 (18 holes).

Brimley

Rikki Timmer, 268 (only competitor).

EUPC All-League Golf

Girls First Team: Chelsey O'Connor and Ali Priskhorn of Pickford, Erin Worden of DeTour, and Charlene Brissette of Cedarville.

Girls Second Team: Lindsay McLeod of Cedarville and Ashley LaPointe, Missy Ellis, and Ashlyn Bosley of DeTour.
