St. Ignace
By Miriam Blair 643-7994

June has arrived, which means warmer weather, beautiful flowers being planted, happy babies in strollers, and more tourists enjoying our town.

I received a phone call from Ohio this week: Ann Marie Pudenz, along with her husband, Jerry, and three children would like to say hello to all of their St. Ignace friends, whom they left behind after a move one year ago. They are doing well, she said, and she wants to share their new address, which is 416 South Main Street, Lewisburg Ohio 45338.

Sorry to hear Marion Fenlon has been experiencing leg problems. She has been going to physical therapy at Mackinac Straits Hospital. I enjoyed giving her a ride there one day.

Hanna Lupan is home again after her winter stay in North Carolina. She has been helping at the Hope Chest. Ms. Lupan plans on a trip to Houghton in two weeks. Later on, she and Sis Tatrow will be traveling to Alaska by auto, plane, cruise ship, bus, and train. Sounds like fun.

Pat Smith and Peg Sutton traveled to Rogers City last week, where Mrs. Sutton gave a presentation about her leader dog, Amber, as a contribution to the Lions Club.

Mrs. Sutton says her husband, Don, recently had a two-week stay in the hospital at Petoskey, but is doing well now. While there, Amber was helpful in finding the elevator or anything else Mrs. Sutton requested.

Henry Smith is recovering as well as he can following a traffic accident on US-2 January 15. He needed stitches in his face and suffered a compound break to his leg. After a three-hour surgery, doctors were able to place a pin in his lower leg. Mr. Smith still needs a walker, and reports that his friends are a big help.

A graduation party took place Saturday, May 26, at the home of Roxanne and John Smith in honor of three high school graduates, their son, Jake, and his cousins, Sam Fitzpatrick, son of Terri Lynn and Bill Fitzpatrick of St. Ignace, and Josh Stascak, son of Tammy and Roger Stascak of Green Bay, Wisconsin. All three graduates are grandsons of Sharon and Terry Smith of St. Ignace. Everyone enjoyed the gathering.

Betty and Wayne Bell visited relatives in St. Ignace over the past week. Betty is the oldest daughter of the late Roma and Vern Blair.

Wes Therrian of Whitewater, Wisconsin, has enjoyed a week's camping on his property on Cheeseman Road. While here, he cleared brush and did some carpentry work. He and his wife, Debbie plan to retire here in the future. They have one son, Josh, who is in college. Mr. Therrian grew up on this property until 1961, when he and his family made a move to Wisconsin because of employment. He is the oldest grandson of the late Edna and Millard Smith. While here, the family enjoyed visiting with relatives.
