Marshall Anton Johnson, 77, of Cedarville, died Saturday, June 2, 2007, at Mackinac Straits Hospital in St. Ignace.
He was born November 24, 1929, in Hastings, to Anton and Gertrude (nee Marshall) Johnson.
Mr. Johnson's family moved to Cedarville when he was a teen. He was graduated from Cedarville schools, and worked at the Cedarville Limestone Quarry for 30 years. He attended the First Union Church in Cedarville, where he was active in many activities.
Mr. Johnson enjoyed fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, traveling, and camping, and bowled in a league at Dundee Lanes in Sault Ste. Marie for 40 years.
A cribbage player for 58 years, Mr. Marshall once recorded a perfect hand.
Mr. Johnson is survived by two sons and their families, Marshall and Yvette Johnson Jr. of Genesee, and Tyler and Elaine Johnson of Lake Orion; three stepdaughters and their families, Sherrie and Dennis Smith of Gaylord, Cindy Fabry of Tampa, Florida, and Debbie Cartwright of Cedarville; two stepsons and their families, Randy Cartwright of Cedarville, and Donald and Vicki Cartwright of Beloit, Wisconsin; 16 grandchildren and their families, Ashley Johnson, Marshall Adam Johnson, Trevor Johnson, Truman Johnson, Gracie Johnson, Tommy Johnson, Matthew Manley, Joseph Manley, Ryan Cartwright, Bradley Cartwright, Danny Cartwright, Joseph Cartwright, Denise and Scott Phister, Michelle Fabry, Andrea Hall, and Michael Adams; and eight greatgrandchildren, Mathew, Andrew, Katrina, Alexis, Brandon, Peyton, Baily, and Jake. Also surviving are one sister, Arloa Malkowski of Cedarville, and one sister-in-law, Yvonne Johnson of Cedarville.
Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille, who died April 1, 2007; his parents; one son, Todd Johnson; one granddaughter, Patricia Lacey, and one brother, Merle Johnson.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 6, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Reamer Galer Funeral Home in Pickford and Thursday, June 7, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the First Union Church in Cedarville. Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the church, with the Reverend Jeffrey Meyers officiating.
Burial will be in Cedar Cemetery in Cedarville.
