Hasn't the weather been great, unless you're working outside in this heat? I'm not complaining, it sure beats shoveling snow. Be sure to drink plenty of water, and take a break if you feel overheated.

If you have outdoor animals, please give them fresh water several times a day, and be sure they have a shaded area to protect them from the hot sun. Never leave a child or an animal in a car in this heat, or unattended.

The Newberry Eagles Club will have a fish fry Friday, June 22, from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Club on M-28 in Newberry. Regular menu items will also be available.

The Hulbert American Legion Post 393 will have a fish fry Friday, June 22, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Post.

The Engadine Class of 2008 is holding a garage sale Saturday, June 23, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Bennett residence at N6115 Pearl Street in Naubinway. All proceeds will go toward the class trip.

The Seney National Wildlife Refuge will host a wildlife tour Wednesday, June 27, from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. On the evening guided tour of the Refuge back country, they'll be on the lookout for swans, loons, eagles, deer, beaver, and other wildlife.

A fish fry, auction, and bake sale will be at the Naubinway pavilion Saturday, June 30, from noon to 4 p.m. The fish fry and bake sale are sponsored by the Naubinway Tribal Elders. The auction, sponsored by the Naubinway-Engadine Merchants Association, will begin at 1 p.m., and will benefit the Fourth of July fireworks fund. If you would like to donate items (old or new) for the auction, call Sally at King's Fish Market at (906) 477- 6311. No clothing items, please.

Manistique Recreation's Flea Market will be held Wednesday afternoons from July through September, at the Little Bear West Arena.

If you have crafts, farm produce, or a fundraiser, you may rent a table. Flea market hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and table rental is $10. For more information, call Judie Reid at (906) 341- 6853.
