Tree on Electric Wire Causes Fire

A cedar tree caught fire after rubbing against a 6,900-volt transmission line on West Truckey Street in St. Ignace Thursday, June 14.

St. Ignace firefighters were on standby while workers from Edison Sault Electric rerouted power from the transmission line. Power was interrupted for some homes and businesses in the area for about three hours.
