DNR Hearing To Be at St. Ignace The House Appropriations Subcommittee on Natural Resources will meet at 4 p.m. Monday, June 25, at the St. Ignace Public Library, said State Representative Gary McDowell June 15. Residents will have an opportunity to take part in a Department of Natural Resources (DNR) presentation on the hunting and fishing license fee bills, house Bill 4624 and Senate Bill 406. An opportunity for public comment and a question and answer session with representatives form the DNR will take place following the presentation. "I encourage people to come out and take part in the ongoing discussion regarding the funding of DNR programs and conservation in Michigan," said Mr. McDowell. "It is important that public comment be heard, because it is an extremely valuable part of the decisionmaking process. Holding this hearing in St. Ignace will provide a voice and a direct line to the DNR for those who otherwise might not have their concerns heard." The St. Ignace meeting of the Natural Resources Appropriation Subcommittee is the third of three Upper Peninsula and northern Michigan hearings on the proposed hunting and fishing license fee bill. A hearing was held June 18 in Cadillac and one was held June 8 at Houghton. For more information about HB 4624 and SB 406, visit www.michiganlegislature.org. |
