Engadine Independence Day is just around the corner. Traffic seems to get a little hectic, especially after the fireworks. When leaving the festivities, take your time, know what is in front and in back of your car, and if you have children, please supervise them carefully at all times with the extra traffic. If you know of children who may qualify for Bay Cliff Health Camp, call Karen Schlicher, the health camp assistant director, at (906) 345-9314. Bay Cliff is a seven-week residential therapy program for children ages three through 17 with physical disabilities and speech and language impairments. St. Timothy's Catholic Church will host an all-you-can-eat fish fry Friday, June 29, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Curtis Community Building in Curtis. Luce Moose Fun Fest is planned for Friday, June 29, and Saturday, June 30, featuring two days of crafts, flea market food concessions, NASCAR race training simulator, tractor pulls, snowmobile grass drags, mud races, a hog roast, miniature horse show, live music, timber show, wilderness women contest, petting zoo, pony rides, Lions Club breakfast, and Luce County Airport fly-ins. Activities will be held at the Luce-West Mackinac County Fairgrounds, three miles east of Newberry on M- 28, adjacent to the Luce County Airport. Space is available for crafters and vendors. An auction, sponsored by the Naubinway-Engadine Merchants Association, will take place Saturday, June 30, at 1 p.m. at the Naubinway Pavilion. There will be many new and used items, featuring a 1972 Ted Williams 12-foot bass boat with a 7.5 horsepower outboard motor and trailer. The auction will benefit the Fourth of July fireworks fund. A fish fry and bake sale, sponsored by the Naubinway Tribal Elders, will be Saturday, June 30, from noon to 4 p.m. at the Naubinway Pavilion. A benefit for Mary Ann Bozeck, to help with travel expenses for cancer treatments, will be Sunday, July 8, at Dave's Pine Bar in Engadine. The meal will be served from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. The auction starts at 3 p.m., with karaoke at 5 p.m. The Curtis Community Arts Council fundraiser three-person scramble golf tournament will be Sunday, July 8, at 1 p.m. with a shotgun start at the Blue Heron Golf Course in Germfask.
