Free Camping for Children

Camp New Day U.P. of Marquette offers an ecumenical camping experience for children who have a parent or close relative incarcerated in the Michigan or federal prison system.

Children from throughout the Upper Peninsula and Northern Lower Peninsula are invited to a week of camping, free of charge. This year, children ages nine to 14 will spend a week at the Fortune Lake Camp near Crystal Falls. Busing to and from camp is provided at St. Ignace and Escanaba sites. The camp will operate from Sunday, August 5, through Saturday, August 11.

This is the sixth year of providing children a week of camping, with boating, swimming, crafts, hiking, campfires, singing, and an overnight camp-out for the older children.
