Lucas Izzard

Lucas Mark Izzard, 19, of Cedarville, passed away early Saturday morning, June 23, 2007.

Mr. Izzard was born October 15, 1987, in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada, to Mark Allen Izzard and Kimberly (nee Rader) Izzard.

He attended Les Cheneaux Community Schools and played basketball on the Cedarville Trojans team. In 2006, his senior year of school, he was a member of the Trojans football team that was the first team in school history to go undefeated, with a 10 and 0 record. He was graduated from Cedarville High School in 2006.

Mr. Izzard worked for Les Cheneaux Kayak Tours and was a drill operator for Howes and Howes at Port Dolemite in Cedarville. Most recently, he worked as a painter.

He enjoyed snowmobiling, dirt bike riding, and spending time with friends and his dog, Bruno.

Mr. Izzard is survived by his parents, Mark and Amy Izzard of Cedarville; a sister, Ashton Izzard and her daughter, Gracie Gruno of Cedarville; grandparents Conrad and Anita Izzard of Cedarville, Theresa Cryderman of Pickford, Royce Rader of Pickford, and Jim Mertaugh and Marcie Waggoner of Hessel; aunts and uncles and their families, Brenda Izzard and Chris Long of Northville, Carla Izzard and Gahlen Johnson of Warren, Tari and Mark Miller of Pickford, Erin Mertaugh of Hessel, Brian and Melanie Rader, Kevin Rader and Michael Rader, all of Pickford, Dan Mertaugh and Linda Jolicoeur of Pickford, and Tom Mertaugh and Wendy Pratt of Hessel; several cousins, Justin and Michael Johnson, Samantha and Kimberly Cruickshank, Hailee and Seth Miller, Kassandra, Allison, and Mary Rader, Elaina Rader, and Megan Ramsey; a special friend, Olivia Huffman of Hessel, and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Kim, his grandmother, Elly Mertaugh, two uncles, Kenny and Darrel Rader, and his great-grandparents, Luke and Edna Izzard, Sam and Anna Stevenson, Jacob and Ruby Rader, and Russell and Ursula Cryderman.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church in Hessel from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 28. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 29, in the church, with the Reverend Father Sebastian Chako presiding.

Pallbearers will be Keith Foster, Michael Pollard, Eric Burnside, Brad Sherlund, Nick Perkins, and Thomas Dowdell.

Arrangements were made by Ackerman Funeral Directors.
