Cadet Amber Nellie Welch, daughter of Michael and Kim Welch of St. Ignace, was graduated from the U.S. Military Academy May 26.

Ms. Welch is a 2000 graduate of LaSalle High School. While at West Point, she concentrated her studies in French, engineering, and environmental engineering, and was commissioned a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army upon graduation.

She will complete her Officer Basic Course at Fort Huachuca, Arizona.
