A benefit for Mary Ann Bozeck, to help with travel expenses for cancer treatments, will be held Sunday, July 8, at Dave's Pine Bar in Engadine. The meal will be served from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., with the auction starting at 3 p.m. and karaoke at 5 p.m.

Curtis Community Arts Council fundraiser three-person scramble golf tournament will be Sunday, July 8, at 1 p.m. Shotgun start will be at the Blue Heron Golf Course in Germfask. Golfers will play 18 holes, flighted after nine. For more information and fees, phone (906) 586-9832.

It was a special day at Edna Rushford's home Sunday, July 1, where "Grandma" held a "Grand Kids Party." Edna has 20 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren, with three on the way. Twenty-five were able to attend, along with six of Edna's eight children. Everyone enjoyed games and food, and the children decorated their own cupcakes. They also enjoyed hay rides provided by uncle Ron Rushford; even Grandma went along. Afamily story, written and read by aunt Jan Pershinske, made the grandchildren laugh and the adults tear up. When it was over, aunt Jeanne Matchinske asked the youngsters if they were tired, and they all said, "No way" - but the adults were a little tuckered out.
