Nettie Hewer Nettie May Hewer of Kinross was a former cook's assistant in logging camps around the Cedarville area, assisting her mother who worked as a cook. She went on to work for Forest Ply in Kinross, and as a cook at Cedarville High School. Mrs. Hewer died Thursday, June 21, 2007, at War Memorial Hospital in Sault Ste. Marie. She was 79. She was born February 22, 1928, in Omer, to Louis William and Margaret (nee McLean) Pocquette. She lived most of her life in Cedarville and Kinross. She enjoyed completing jigsaw puzzles and spending time with friends. She also enjoyed the company of her dog, Charlie. Mrs. Hewer is survived by two daughters and their families, Linda and Ben Perez of Mount Pleasant and Donna and Bill Amacher of St. Ignace; a son and his family, Clyde and Kathleen Jenkins of Houghton Lake; five grandchildren, Rick Perez, Angel Perez, Todd Vandersys, William Amacher, and Michael Amacher; three great-grandchildren, Gage Fairchild, Hunter Amacher, and Summer Amacher; a niece, Barbara Davarn; two nephews, Dale Griffin and Ernest Griffin, and her good friends, Hilliard Moran, Margaret Balgenorth, and Catherine Causley. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Diana Vandersys; three grandchildren, Brandy, James, and Patrick; a brother, William Pocquette, and her twin sister, Betty Griffin. The family held a private committal service. Reamer Galer Funeral Home of Pickford assisted the family with arrangements. |
