Rexton-Garnet
By Linda Livermore 595-7283

The summer cabins in our tiny towns are bursting with people, four-wheelers, and campfires, come nighttime.

Hello to Bob and Anne Smith of East Lansing who, while on their yearly summer trek to the property in Garnet, were joined by all their children and families, Robert Jr. and his wife, Lisa Legault Smith, and children, Courtney and Chase, Lisa and Mick Nemeth and their children, Steven and Ashley of Owosso, and Paula, Danielle, and Taylor Born of Canton, along with Mike and Michele Legault Bennett of Fort Wayne, Indiana. The kids enjoyed the adventures of camping along with the fireworks in Naubinway.

At the home of Roy and Karen Livermore were Karen's brothers and their wives, Henry and Sandy Underhill of Lakeview and Bill and Deb Underhill of Imlay City.

The Angulium homestead in Rexton seemed to be overflowing with folks this past week, as well.

The wedding last week of Lyle Sisson and Natalie Metcalf saw a large contingent of people related to Deb and Steve Kerridge as they witnessed the vows of the young couple. Among those were Sue Crittendon and her daughter, Jennifer Barnhill of Alpena, Lee Barnhill and Deb Klemens, also of Alpena, JoAnn and Curt Kinkella of Roscommon, Deb and Bill Carlson of Manistique, and, of course, the young couple's grandparents, Sally Robinson, Rob Robinson, Lee and Lenora Kerridge, Mr. and Mrs. Metcalf, and Lyle's grandmother, Phyllis Eichen, who traveled all the way from Oregon, as did Jenny O'Connor. Cousins and friends attended, including Connie Fyvie, Marcy Fyvie of Royal Oak, Joe and Jean Miller and their kids, Lance and Stephanie of Marquette, great-aunts Barb Miller and Kelly Backman of Newberry, Todd and Stephanie Miller of Sault Ste. Marie, Penny Obey, and Ronald Oberle.

The neighborhood will gather for the 80th birthday celebration of Junior Shoemaker, better known as Shoe, Sunday afternoon, July 15, at the fellowship hall of the Rexton Mennonite Church. The party will be hosted by his children, Krystal, Hazel, Roger, and Mike, and their families. Shoe is never far from a country music station, and he loves to participate whenever someone brings out a fiddle.

Eighty must be the magic number, as children from near and far gathered at the home of Michele Paquin in celebration of Don Goudreau's birthday, and to put a little icing on the cake, an anniversary celebration for Don and Dana was included, as the couple reached number 60. What a milestone. Their children are D.J., Gary, Michele, Susan, Sandra, Andrea, David, Mary, Aimee, Laura, and the late Bernard Goudreau.

Al and Nadine Garavaglia are enjoying the company of their son and his family, Dan and Amy, and Jacob and Riley. The kids will stay for an extended visit with Grandma and Grandpa, while mom and dad travel back to Rochester Hills. As a bonus, the dogs, Logan and Lucy, will camp out for a few weeks as well.

Birthday wishes abound in this month, a few belated, but best wishes to all: my sister-in-law, Louella Snow, who celebrated July 3, along with Dwight Hart, Penny Browning, Mike Shoemaker, who had a bang-up birthday July 4, my friend and neighbor, Connie Paquin, her niece, Candy Paquin, and our granddaughter, Cyeleste, all celebrated July 6, Jake Spencer July 9, Junior Shoemaker and Gary Derusha July 10, Joyce Hart, my nephew, Lester Livermore Jr., July 11, Sonny Stephenson July 12, Collin Reynolds July 13, Connie Gouza July 14, and little Olivia Browning July 15.

Anniversary wishes to Greg and Mary Livermore, who celebrated July 2, Nathan and Jaci Livermore July 4, Bill and Kim Hood July 9, and Lester and Sandy Livermore July 13.

Congratulations and best wishes to Ian Jeff Frazier and Ashley Gravelle, who were wed on a lucky day, July 7, 2007.
