Police Investigate Sugar Island Theft

Michigan State Police are investigating a burglary at the Chippewa County Road Commission garage on Sugar Island. A chain saw was stolen from the garage between March 13 and March 25. The Stihl brand chain saw was in a case marked with the letters "CCRS." The saw is valued at $550.

Another burglary took place on Sugar Island between March 18 and March 25. Two chain saws and a hammer drill were stolen from a private residence on 1-1/2 Mile Road near Townhall Road.

A Stihl chain saw, a Husqvarna chain saw, and a Milwaukee hammer drill were stolen, valued at $1,400.

Those with information about these or any crimes are asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 465- 7867. Callers may remain anonymous. Information leading to arrest could earn a reward of up to $1,000.
