Engadine The Tahquamenon Valley Cruisers are looking for vendors, crafters, and organizations who would like to participate in the 14th Annual Tahquamenon Valley Cruisers Car Show in Newberry, Saturday, July 28. The Luce County Community Resource and Recreation Center, at 103 West Helen Street in Newberry, offers a full slate of activities each week, including reading and skits on Mondays, crafts on Tuesdays, active games on Wednesdays, movies on Thursdays, and learning to cook on Fridays. Saturday, July 28, will be a "Moose Festival and Car Show" with a community tie dye and peddle car races, games, and prizes. Tuesday, August 21, will be the end of summer party. The summer sounds like it will be so much fun for all area children. The Luce County Community Resource and Recreation Center is open to all the surrounding communities; everyone is welcome to stop by and see what they have to offer. Co-sponsors are the Children's Trust Fund and Great Start Great Parents. If you have any questions about recreation center programs, call (906) 293-3729. The Engadine Historical Society Museums, Freeman-Hastings House and Fenske Log House, will be open every Tuesday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The museums are located on West Melville Street in Engadine. Naubinway-Engadine Merchants Association will host the third annual art auction. This year's theme is "Lighthouses." Help decorate the community with your personal lighthouse creation. Lighthouses will be displayed throughout the community all summer, and then auctioned off at the Naubinway "Fall Fest" in September. Lighthouses will be available at the following locations in Engadine: Danny's Auto Value, Tahquamenon Area Credit Union, and the Hiawatha Sportsman's Club. In Naubinway: Coldwell Banker Schmidt Realtors, Beaudoin's Marathon Station, and First National Bank. Engadine Heritage Day will take place at the Garfield Township Hall and Engadine Mill Pond Park and Pavilion Sunday, July 22. A quilt show, barbecue beef sandwiches and hot dogs be available. The popular strawberry shortcake will also be served. The flag raising will be held at 1 p.m., which starts off the afternoon with music in the park, arts and crafts shows, and displays of antique cars and tractors. Museum tours will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Children's activities will be held on the Mill Pond Park grounds, including fly tying. The quilt raffle will be held at 5 p.m. in the pavilion.
