1957 Opening of Mackinac Bridge
One Transportation Era Ends, Another Begins

Great Lakes Air Named 'FBO of Week'
      Great Lakes Air in St. Ignace was named Fixed-based Operators of the Week for the second week of July by AVweb, a Web site for aviation enthusiasts. Airport manager Paul Fullerton received a blue ribbon in recognition of his staff's service.

      AU.S. Air Force fly-over above the Mackinac Bridge will result in a brief closure of the bridge to traffic Saturday, July 28, during the ceremonies marking the 50th anniversary of the structure. The bridge will close briefly two additional times that day.

Man Loses Life in Moran Twp. Crash
      A Mount Pleasant man was killed in an off-road accident in Moran Township. The body of Micheal Gomolski, 47, was found on Trail 47 in Moran Township Friday evening, July 20. Police are still investigating and believe the man died in a one-vehicle crash while operating an off-road motorcycle.
