Musicians Melissa Krahnke, a Pickford native, and Jason Mapes of the Sault Ste. Marie-based rock band "Bad Side" are working with a multiple-Platinum-award-winning producer on their new compact disc recording, Miss Krahnke reported.
Bad Side was in the process of finishing its second compact disc, when a producer, Beau Hill, contacted them. Based in Los Angeles, California, he has produced millions of top-selling albums for rock legends like Ratt, Alice Cooper, Warrant, and Winger. Mr. Hill heard song clips on Bad Side's Web site, and was so impressed by what he heard, he contacted the band right away, Miss Krahnke said. Within a few days, the band contracted with Mr. Hill to add his touch to some of the tracks on the band's new compact disc, "Bad Side II."
Mr. Hill has studios in Los Angeles and Austin, Texas, and was the co-founder of the music industry recording label, Interscope Records. He is best known for his production on such mega-hits as "Round and Round" by Ratt, "Heaven" by Warrant, and "Headed for a Heartbreak" by Winger. "Bad Side II" is scheduled for worldwide release later this summer.
Miss Krahnke sings and plays piano and keyboards, while Mr. Mapes plays rhythm guitar and keyboards, and sings.
