Encampment Planned at Fort

Mackinac State Historic Parks (MSHP) will host a Compagnie Franche de la Marine du Michilimackinac, or Michilimackinac Marines, encampment at Colonial Michilimackinac in Mackinaw City from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, August 4, and Sunday, August 5. Reenactors from throughout Michigan and the Midwest will join the 18th-century British troops already stationed at the reconstructed fort, a National Historic Landmark. Reenactors will portray both French and British colonialists from the French and Indian War period.

Reenactors will supplement daily events with demonstrations including military marching and drilling techniques as well as period clothing presentations and equipment demonstrations.

All events are included with admission to Colonial Mich- ilimackinac, which costs $10 for adults and $6 for youth. Children age 5 and younger are admitted free.
