Summer is winding down, and fall is right behind it. We must enjoy each season to its fullest while it's here. There will be some beautiful fall weather and scenery on the horizon.

The Harvest Moon Ball will be Friday, October 12, at the Hiawatha Sportsman Club in Naubinway. There will be fun, food, entertainment, and U.P.- brewed beer.

God's Country church annual picnic will be Sunday, September 9, at 4 p.m. at the church. It will begin with fellowship, a short worship service, and a potluck meal.

Volunteers from Mackinaw City came to Newberry and Engadine to work on sprucing up the Good Samaritan House, which is a shelter for families who have experienced house fires, or lost their homes. The workers improved the condition of the house and the Youth At Play Center in Newberry. When members of the youth group weren't working, they assisted at Engadine's Vacation Bible School.

The Art on the Lake Festival is Saturday, September 1, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Curtis Park. There will be great food, music, and entertainment. Everyone is welcome.

Happy birthday to Travis Freeman August 30 and Hugh Chaffins September 3.

Best wishes to Stu and Barb Hobbs, who will celebrate their wedding anniversary September 6.
