Engadine Consolidated Schools The summer break is coming to a quick end, with staff and (most) students ready to begin the school year anew. Tuesday, September 4, is the beginning date for all Engadine students. This will be considered our first full instructional day. Teachers, instructional staff, and all other ancillary staff begin Monday, August 27, to Wednesday, August 29. The administrative team will remain as it was this last school year, with Angie McArthur functioning as our elementary coordinator/ business administrator and Stu Hobbs as the superintendent/secondary principal. Both positions also include a number of other responsibilities. The Title I self-assessment/ improvement process will formally end in early September with a review of all work that has been completed, as well as the identification of school-wide goals and objectives. The intent of this procedure was to assess, analyze, and compile information that prepares us for the next step in the district self-improvement process. The overall intent is to develop a system that effectively teaches all students (grades K-12) to better meet the state's educational benchmarks. Our next major step is to develop an improved instructional system. This will likely be our greatest challenge for the upcoming school year. Engadine is at least a year ahead of most other EUP districts in the self-improvement process. Collaborators in the project include Angie McArthur, Laura Flatt, Lawrence Vincent, parents, and all staff members. Parents should receive a letter shortly from the district on important dates, a revised school calendar for the upcoming school year, transportation schedules, and what children will need to be successful students. A reminder to all parents that the reality of teaching your student( s) is a cooperative responsibility; the student, parents, and teachers must work in concert. With this in mind, please feel free to contact your student's teachers if you have questions or concerns. The sports season has begun in earnest, with Engadine fielding solid teams for football, volleyball, and junior high. As in our educational mission, Engadine Schools continues to promote the growth of the "whole" student, including mental, physical, and emotional abilities. We are fortunate to have a dedicated athletic staff, volunteers, parents, and the Engadine Sports Boosters. We are in the process of updating district bus transportation routes and times, in light of increased student enrollment. Please be patient as we move through this process. A new schedule will be out shortly. See you in September! |
