The Beck Team Claim Top Prize in St. Ignace's Annual Salmon Derby

At left, the foursome of (from left) Jake Stephenson of Elkhart, Indiana and Jason Beck, Nathan Beck, and Barry Beck of St. Johns won the combined three heaviest salmon contest, with a weight of 37.14 pounds, during the St. Ignace Salmon Fishing Derby Saturday, August 25.

At right, Eileen Evers (left) and Steve Peterson of St. Ignace took first place with the heaviest lake trout, at 6.54 pounds. The derby had 36 boats with more than 125 fishermen competing for $1,695 in prize money. Lloyd Steiner (left) of St. Ignace and Mason Cochran of Dunkirk, Indiana, finished first with the heaviest salmon, weighing in at 17.08 pounds.
