Gould City At last summer is over, as far as school vacation is concerned, and it's time to go back to regular school schedules, classes, and homework. In a way, it's kind of nice to wind down, slow down, and get back to a regular routine. Soon it will be time to slow down and enjoy the beautiful fall weather and turning leaves. The Eva Burrell Animal Shelter will host its annual returnable bottle and can drive Saturday, September 8, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Fair Building in Manistique. All proceeds will go toward helping the homeless, but adoptable, pets at the shelter. The Naubinway Fall Festival will be held Saturday, September 8, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Pavilion in Naubinway. There will be arts and crafts, food booths, 50/50 drawing, farmer's market, and children's activities and games, featuring a new candy walk. This year's recipe contest is based on cheese. Make your favorite recipe and bring it in by 1 p.m. for judging. Prizes will be awarded for first, second, and third place. The local artists' barns and decorated lighthouses will be on display and available for sale by silent auction from noon to 3 p.m. This event is sponsored by the Naubinway-Engadine Merchants Association. Proceeds from the events will be used toward Fourth of July fireworks and expenses. Happy birthday to Charlie Fosdick IV September 11. Stay safe and stay well. See you next week. |
