The 12th annual Richard Crane Memorial Truck Show in St. Ignace Friday, September 14, through Sunday, September 16, will display custom, working "big rigs" downtown, free of charge, highlighted by the Parade of Lights Saturday at dusk.

The show will feature a monster truck that will be available for people to ride, on the north side of the parking lot of the Little Bear East Community Center and Arena. The monster truck "Kickin' -n- Screamin'" will offer rides for $5 per person all weekend. The vehicle, owned by R.J. Wentworth and Mary Crosby of O'Brien, Florida, has a 1987 Ford Ranger body, a 460 CI Ford engine, and seats 12 people in its box. Its wheels stand more than five feet in height.

Rides will cost $5 per person.

Mr. Wentworth brought a monster truck to the Truck Show a few years ago, but this will be the first time his "Kickin' -n- Screamin'" model will be showcased, said Ed Reavie, event coordinator.

"We should have a great turnout this year," Mr. Reavie said. "As usual, many of the trucks will show up at the last minute, but I'm expecting a good year."

State Street in downtown St. Ignace will be closed beginning Friday evening, as the customized rigs will be parked there for display.

At 6:30 p.m., trucks are scheduled to line up on State Street between Truckey Street and Marquette Street and the public is welcome to view the trucks and displays free of charge. The Parade of Lights, which features the rigs parading over the Mackinac Bridge and then through St. Ignace, will be held Saturday evening at dusk.

On Saturday at 8 a.m.. the "On the Waterfront" toy car show and swap meet will be held at Little Bear East Arena and Conference Center. In the Little Bear East facility, pedal cars, both antique and restored, will be showcased throughout the weekend. A competition will be held for best pedal car display.

The truck show bears the name of the late Richard Crane, owner of the American Truck Driving School in Garland, Texas, one of the country's original trucking schools. The show is organized by Nostalgia Productions of St. Ignace.
