Twain Play To Be Presented at DeTour

"Tales of Twain," a play starring Roger Norton of DeTour, produced and directed by Dave Rhinard of DeTour, will be presented Friday, September 14, Saturday, September 15, and Sunday, September 16, at the old church hall behind the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in DeTour Village.

This two-act revue of Mark Twain's stories, sketches, and monologues features a dozen area actors, who will travel to the old Soo Theater the following weekend for two performances, September 21 and 22.

Show times are 7:30 p.m. for both Fridays and Saturdays, and 3 p.m. for the Sunday matinee in DeTour.

A dinner theater, prepared chef Chad Norton, is planned for Friday in DeTour, beginning at 6 p.m.

Show tickets for all performances are $5 for students; $8 for senior citizens and college students, and $10 for adults younger than 62. Tickets for the dinner theater are $20, and must be reserved in advance by calling (906) 297-5608.

This revue includes scenes excerpted from "Tom Sawyer," Twain's semi-autobiographical novel set during his boyhood. Student Devin Livingston plays Tom, who proposes to Becky Thatcher, played by student Amber *Continued from page 3

Mandrel in the sketch entitled "Heartbreak." Student Kaden Barbeaux, joins Devin in another scene. Bob Bloom, Bob Zahara, Susie Rhinard, Ruth Ann Hudak, and Rene Norton, all from DeTour, Dr. Richard Morrison of Pickford, Dan Harris from Sault Ste. Marie, and Mike Kasper from Cedarville each perform. Jean Bloom will play interlude piano music of the era to accompany the performance.

Roger Norton will portray Mark Twain throughout this nearly twohour show, interacting with his supporting cast in some of the scenes, telling stories in others, and recreating some of Twain's monologues from his European and American tours. Mr. Norton has always been a fan of Mark Twain's books, he said, particularly his humor, and has even grown his white hair and moustache to achieve a resemblance to the author.

Further information about the show, tickets, and group rates may be obtained by calling Dave or Susie Rhinard at the number above.
