Ronald Fenske

Ronald H. Fenske, 70, of Engadine, was a U.S. Army veteran who worked as a physical therapist aide for many years, and operated a sawmill and cattle farm. Mr. Fenske died Saturday, September 8, 2007, at Helen Newberry Joy Hospital in Newberry.

He was born July 14, 1937, in Newberry to Julius and Linda (nee Rosenthal) Fenske.

He grew up in Engadine and was a graduate of Engadine High School. He served in the United States Army and later the reserves until his honorable discharge October 2, 1963.

He married Delores Mc- Michael October 24, 1960, in Coldwater. He was employed with the State of Michigan in Coldwater, later transferring in 1963 to the Newberry Regional Mental Health Center, where he worked as a physical therapist aide for more than 30 years until his retirement.

Mr. Fenske was also a cattle farmer and operated a sawmill. He was a member of the American Legion Post 290 in Engadine, a volunteer at the Engadine Historical Society and the Tahquamenon Logging Museum, a former volunteer for the Garfield Township Fire Department, and served as Deputy Sheriff for Mackinac County.

His hobbies and interests included woodworking, cutting firewood, and hunting.

Mr. Fenske is survived by his wife; two children and their families, Deanna and Myrv Dake of Newberry and Daniel and Marta Fenske of Coldwater; his mother, Linda Fenske of Engadine; seven grandchildren and their families; two great-grandchildren, and a brother and his family, Walter and Monna Fenske of Talmadge, Ohio.

Mr. Fenske was preceded in death by his father, Julius, in 1994.

Services will be Monday, September 17, at 11 a.m. at the Engadine Cemetery with Pastor Arthur Bode, of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion Post 290 or the Engadine Historical Society.
