Trash, Ambulance Concerns Addressed at Portage Twp.

      Misuse of Waste Management dumpsters near the Curtis Community Building could jeopardize their availability there, said Portage Township Supervisor Donald Ferris, who plans to request an additional dumpster in Curtis for use in summer months to help solve the problem of waste overflow.

Tom Moore Named Sportsman of the Year
      Conservationist and educator Tom Moore of Cedarville was named the 2007 Les Cheneaux Sportsman of the Year at a ceremony in July. He was recognized for 35 years as a volunteer hunter safety instructor and his name has been engraved on a plaque that will hang at the Les Cheneaux Sportsman's Club.

      Total pay to members of the St. Ignace City Council for attending meetings and events during August was $2,070. Council members are paid $70 for regular meetings and $60 for committee meetings or gatherings at which the person is representing the city.
