Paul Bunyan Breakfast, Hike Planned for Sept. 29, Oct. 6

Two Paul Bunyan Camp Breakfast and Hikes are planned for two fall weekends, Saturday, September 29, and Saturday, October 6, organized by the St. Ignace Visitors Bureau and the U.S. Forest Service.

The events will begin at 8:30 a.m. with a "Paul Bunyan Skillet Breakfast" at the Sand Dune Trails of the Hiawatha National Forest on Brevort Lake Road. Aguided trail hike will follow at 10 a.m. through the forest.

The cost is $15 per adult, and $10 per child younger than 13. Proceeds help to maintain trails.

The trails lead hikers through forests of northern white cedar, aspen, pine and northern hardwoods. Trails often venture through wetlands, sand dunes, and dense forests.

At noon, there will be "Camp Soup and Fireside," featuring tall tales and Yooper yarns at the campfire with James Couling.

The same event is planned to feature cross-country skiing on the trails January 26, 2008.
