Leona Woody

Leona E. Woody of Engadine helped her husband operate their dairy farm, and was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Engadine. Mrs. Woody died at age 90 Saturday evening, September 15, 2007, at the Luce County Annex long term care facility in Newberry.

She was born in Detroit November 5, 1916, the eldest daughter of Andrew and Elizabeth (nee Brockman) Feigel. She moved to Engadine as a young child.

She married Burgess "Eugene" Woody, and they operated the dairy farm while he worked as a woodsman for Hiawatha Sportsman's Club on the west end of Mackinac County.

After he was injured and could no longer work on the farm, they sold the farm and Mrs. Woody became a full-time homemaker and caregiver for her husband.

Mrs. Woody enjoyed crocheting, vegetable gardening, and flower gardening.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Sue Woody of Goldsboro, North Carolina; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; her youngest brother and his family, Robert and Shirley Feigel of Engadine, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, four brothers, and five sisters.

Friends may call at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Engadine Thursday, September 20, from 9 a.m. until the time of services.

A funeral at Bethlehem Lutheran Church will follow visitation at 10 a.m.

Pastor Art Bode will officiate.

Interment will follow at the Engadine Cemetery.

Beaulieu Funeral Home of Newberry assisted the family with arrangements.
