Arthur Hopperstead Arthur Bensen Hopperstead, 82, of the Verona/Pittsburgh area in Pennsylvania, died August 30, 2007. He was born in St. Ignace November 1, 1924, to Arnold M. Hopperstead and Bertha (nee Bensen) Hopperstead, with his birth announced on the front page of the St. Ignace newspaper, before he was named. He lived on Portage Street before the family moved to Crystal Falls, Lansing, Kalamazoo, and then Alpena. He was a World War II veteran. Mr. Hopperstead was a retired vice president of Trumbull Corporation, a member of Plum Creek Masonic Lodge 799 F&AM, Syria Shrine, the Elks, and the American Legion. Mr. Hopperstead was president of the Pittsburgh Chapter of the Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers and Past Elder and Trustee of the Presbyterian Church of Plum Creek. He leaves behind his wife, Dorothy E. Hopperstead, his children and their families, Diane and Paul Slimick, and Andrea, Alan, and Eric Hopperstead. He was a grandfather of four grandsons and one granddaughter. Mr. Hopperstead is survived by two sisters and their families, Helen Wynns of Exeter, Missouri, and Carilon and James Carr of Grand Rapids. Burial was in Plum Creek Cemetery.
