St. Ignace

Warm temperatures arrived Monday, September 17, and continue this week.

The LaSalle High Saints football team scored a victory over the Rudyard Bulldogs during the homecoming game Friday, September 21, at Saints Field. The game was preceded by a student parade downtown. Many fans enjoyed the parade and game on an exceptionally warm fall evening. During halftime ceremonies, seniors Jaimee Bloxsom and Derek Marshall were crowned LaSalle High School's homecoming queen and king.

Planning is underway for the Apple Day and Pumpkin Roll, this year renamed Bayside Fall Fest, in St. Ignace Saturday, October 6. Live music and a beer and rootbeer tent at the marina will be added to the family event this year. Hay wagon rides, horse rides, and a walking tour will take place. At 2 p.m., children will roll pumpkins down Goudreau Hill next to City Hall.

Mary Edwards, along with her daughter, Denise Smith, traveled to Minnesota to attend a family wedding last week.

Bill Demmon of Gwinn spent a weekend in St. Ignace attending the Truck Show and visiting his mother, Theresa Downey.

Four St. Ignace youths, Kaiden Shiemke, Jaici Shiemke, Molly Sweeney, and Lewis Steiner, were among those who participated in livestock showing at the Chippewa County Fair. Pat Shiemke brought in photographs of three of the participants.

Shirley and Bob Cataline left home Tuesday, September 4, for Alpena. They spent the day with friends from Indiana. Then they traveled on to Davison and Holt for Mr. Cataline's 50th class reunion, followed by a family reunion. They then traveled to Niles to visit with Mrs. Cataline's brother and sister-inlaw for a week. They finally arrived back home Friday, September 14. It's fun to go away, but fun to get home.
