Hello, everyone. I hope this week finds everyone doing well and enjoying the nice weather. We enjoyed a family cookout last Sunday, and it was a beautiful day. I hope we have many more like that.

Volunteer assignments are available at Helen Newberry Joy Hospital and Healthcare Center in a variety of areas.

It's time for "Oktoberfest" in Curtis Saturday, September 29, from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.

There will be food, games, music, vendors, decorating contest, live band, bonfire, and soup cook-off.

The Luce West Mackinac County Fair Board will present the Dick Frey Memorial Demolition Derby Saturday, September 29, at the fairgrounds in Newberry.

For more information and registration, call Jason at (906) 293- 1701 or Nick at (906) 450-0617. Registration is at 8 a.m., with the first races beginning at 9 a.m.

There also will be a pig roast, sponsored by the Luce West Mackinac County Fair Board.

The Wildwood Mennonite Church, on Sandtown Road in Engadine, will host a community event Sunday, September 30, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Horse-drawn wagon ride, grill out, bonfire, and games are planned. There is no charge, and everyone is invited.

K-Dance is back again in Newberry. Tap, jazz, and ballet classes are forming now for ages 3 and up, and will be held Thursday evenings at the YAP (Youth At Play) Center, across from the IGA grocery store in Newberry.
