Lowes Sentenced in Hessel Bar Robbery

Michael Lowes, 19, of Sault Ste. Marie, who had pleaded guilty to armed robbery, was sentenced to 108 to 240 months in prison Friday, September 21, by Judge Charles Stark in 11th Circuit Court in St. Ignace. He will be eligible for parole in 2016.

Mr. Lowes pleaded guilty August 24 to the crime of armed robbery, and acknowledged responsibility for other uncharged offenses. This crime occurred May 15, when Mr. Lowes waited outside a Hessel bar after closing and held the owner at gunpoint, demanding money. He was also convicted June 19 for two breaking and entering felonies in Chippewa County.

An accomplice to this case, Sierra Krogh, is scheduled to be sentenced Friday, October 5.
