Trail Hike Planned for September 29

A half-mile hike across the newly constructed Silver Lake Bridge on the North Country Trail will be hosted Saturday, September 29, by the Hiawatha Shore-to-Shore chapter of the North Country Trail Association. The hike will begin at 10 a.m. at the North Country Trail crossing on Worth Road. The public is welcome.

A hot dog lunch and prizes will be offered.

The bridge has been constructed by the National Forest Service on the scenic trail. Longer hikes are also available.

The walk coincides with National Public Lands Day, the nation's largest volunteer effort to enhance public lands. Last year on this day, nearly 100,000 volunteers across the country built trails and bridges, planted trees, and removed trash and invasive plants from public lands.
