Cedarville, Pickford Record Conference Victories

Six players scored for the Cedarville Trojans en route to a 59-6 Mid-Eastern Football League (MEFL) win over the Brimley Bays Friday, September 21.

The Trojans, 5-0 overall and 4- 0 in the MEFL, moved one win closer to qualifying for the state playoffs, aiming to clinch a spot with a road victory at Bark River- Harris (1-4 overall) Friday, September 28.

Trojans Head Coach Randy Schaedig used his entire varsity roster and part of the junior varsity squad during the league win over the Bays.

Cedarville scored four touchdowns in the first quarter, with Zach McFarland scoring two of them on runs of 16 and eight yards. C.J. Paquin completed scoring passes to Kevin Thompson from 20 yards out, and to Tyler Anderson for 18 yards. Jason Duncan kicked three extra points and added a two-point conversion for a 29-0 Trojans lead.

The Trojans' Sheldon Tassier scored two touchdowns in the second quarter on a seven-yard run and a 29-yard pass interception return. Paquin completed two-point conversion passes to Luke Murray and Anderson for a 45-0 halftime advantage.

Cedarville increased its lead to 53-0 on an eight-yard scoring pass from Paquin to Taylor Smith. Wade Autore added the two-point conversion run.

Andrew Jaroche completed the scoring for the Trojans on a oneyard run in the fourth quarter.

Brimley scored its first touchdown of the season with a 65- yard scoring pass late in the game.

Paquin, nine of 12 passes for 151 yards; Tyler Anderson, 14 carries for 85 yards, two receptions for 21 yards; Andrew Jaroche, 17 carries for 81 yards; Zach McFarland, four carries for 47 yards; Jason Duncan, one reception for 40 yards, one carry for three yards; Luke Murray, two receptions for 30 yards; Kevin Thompson, two receptions for 29 yards; Alex McMaken, one reception for 23 yards; Sheldon Tassier, five carries for 17 yards; Devon Wilson, one carry for 12 yards; Taylor Smith, one reception for eight yards; Wade Autore, one carry for three yards.

Trojans defensive stats: Devon Wilson, six tackles; Andrew Jaroche, five tackles; Clayton Meyers and Tyler Anderson, four tackles; Sheldon Tassier, three tackles, one interception; Jason Duncan (interception), Wade Autore (fumble recovery), and Adam Dingman, two tackles; Peter Duman (fumble recovery); C.J. Paquin (interception) one tackle.

Brimley game statistics were unavailable.

Brimley travels to Rapid River to to battle the Rockets (2-3 overall) Friday, September 28.
