Hydrant Flushing Readies City Water System for Winter
St. Ignace City Public Works employees Ann Marie Dewey and Dennis Sorenson unleash water from a fire hydrant near The Galley Restaurant on State Street Thursday, October 4, as part of the city's annual hydrant flushing program. Flushing is done every April and October to clean out the city's water main and keep hydrants from freezing. The department is in charge of flushing 265 hydrants within the city and St. Ignace and Moran townships.
