By David Latva

Concerns of whether the Cedarville Trojans would overlook the Powers North Central Jets to focus on upcoming match-ups with two of the Mid-Eastern Football League's (MEFL) top teams were put to rest with a 37-0 shutout in Powers Friday, October 5.

The Trojans, 7-0 overall and tied for first in the MEFL with the Iron Mountain North Dickinson Nordics (6-1 overall), will host the Pickford Panthers (6-1 overall, 5-1 MEFL) next week and then close out their season against the Nordics the following week, Friday, October 19. The Nordics are defending MEFL champions.

"We have tried to improve and build with each game, without looking ahead," said Trojans Head Coach Randy Schaedig. "We have two tough games coming up during the final games of the season."

The early part of the Trojans-Jets game was a defensive struggle before C.J. Paquin and Zach McFarlane combined on a 53-yard scoring pass. Jason Duncan kicked the extra point for a 7-0 lead at the 2:56 mark.

McFarlane rushed for a 15-yard scoring run at 8:02 of the second quarter before Paquin and Duncan hooked up for a 33-yard touchdown pass. Duncan added the two extra points for a 21-0 halftime advantage.
