Five Arrested on Drug Charges in Mackinac County A Naubinway man and four people in St. Ignace were arrested on drug charges last week by Straits Area Narcotics Enforcement (SANE). Asearch of a Naubinway home Thursday, October 11, yielded marijuana, growing equipment, firearms, vehicles, and cash, after officers seized 107 marijuana plants on public land in Mackinac County. Timothy Nelson, 38, was arrested and arraigned October 12 on one count of conspiracy to manufacture marijuana plants, one count possession with intent to deliver marijuana, and one count maintaining a drug house. The marijuana manufacturing charge is a felony punishable by up to 15 years in prison and a $10 million fine, reported Mackinac County Prosecuting Attorney Fred Feleppa, who said the street value of the drugs seized is more than $400,000. Bond has been set and his preliminary examination is scheduled for Wednesday, October 24, before Judge Beth Gibson in 92nd District Court. Prescription pain medication, drug paraphernalia, firearms, two vehicles, and cash were seized in a search of a St. Ignace home Tuesday evening, October 9, leading to the arrest of David Dodge, 41, and Susan Dodge, 44. Each was arraigned October 10 on charges of one count delivery of methadone, one count delivery of OxyContin, one count racketeering, and one count maintaining a drug house, SANE reported. Also arrested in St. Ignace Wednesday, October 10, were George LaPine, 48, and Donna LaPine, 41, who were each arraigned the same day on charges of one count delivery of morphine and one count conspiracy to deliver morphine. All persons arrested were lodged at the Mackinac County Jail. |
