Chiefs Earn SAC Title With Win Over Bulldogs

The Cheboygan Chiefs clinched the champi- onship of the Straits Area Conference (SAC) for the second consecutive season with a 39-0 win over the Rudyard Bulldogs Friday, October 12.

"The players continued to play hard, and haven't quit," said Bulldogs Head Coach Pat Maloney.

Rudyard, 1-3 in the SAC and 4- 4 overall, will host Munising in the Bulldogs homecoming contest Friday, October 19.

The Chiefs, 4-0 in the SAC and 7-1 overall, will close out its season at home against the Ogemaw Heights Falcons (7-1 overall).

Bulldogs stats: Peter Lawlor, 12 carries for 80 yards; Josh McCollum, 2-of-8 passing for 61 yards; Craig Wallis, six carries for 25 yards; Ron Coffey, 10 tackles, two fumble recoveries; C.J. Knutsen, eight tackles; Jeff Briggs, Craig Wallis, seven tackles.
