Chelsea Swope Sets LaSalle Cross Country Record; Final SAC Meet of the Season

Sophomore Chelsea Swope broke an eight-year-old LaSalle High School cross country record with a time of 19:51 during a trimeet at Mackinaw City Thursday, October 11.
The new time broke the record of 20:16, established by Randi Johnson in 1999.
The St. Ignace girls placed five in the top six to win the meet, led by Swope (19:51), Nicole Emblad (20:31), and Kristen Olsen (21:33) in the top three, while Grace Wheeler took fifth in 22:27 and Audrey Wyers sixth in 22:29. Other Saints finishers: Sara Tafelski 23:40 (9th); Kayla Gustin 25:22; Ivy Thurston 25:27; Samantha Radecki 26:00.
Cedarville Trojans: Savannah Madigan 22:02 (4th); Katie Bowlby 22:35 (7th).

In the boys meet, Mackinaw City took the first four places, led by Kevin Darrow with a time of 16:36. All-SAC Honors
Four St. Ignace Saints runners earned All-Straits Area Conference (SAC) honors following the final SAC meet of the season at Rudyard Tuesday, October 9.
Chelsea Swope and Nicole Elmblad earned first team awards and Kristen Olsen and Devon Chargo received second team honors for the Saints.

Sault Ste. Marie To Host
U.P. Finals October 20
Sault Ste. Marie High School will be the location for the cross country Upper Peninsula state finals Saturday, October 20.
The course behind the high school will be open for viewing at 10 a.m. The National Anthem is set for 12:45 p.m., with Division 1 girls starting at 1 p.m., Division 2 girls at 1:35 p.m., and Division 3 girls at 2:10 p.m.
The boys Division 1 competition is scheduled to begin at 2:45 p.m., Division 2 at 3:15 p.m., and Division 3 at 3:45 p.m., with an awards ceremony set for 4:30 p.m. in the high school gymnasium.
