Brevort It's typical November weather. While hunters hope for snow, I'm just ready for a different landscape. The birds are looking for some tasty seeds. It is, indeed, that time. Brian and Jeanne Rose have returned from Troy, where they welcomed their first grandson, Kaden Ksar, born November 3 to Kari and Jamal Ksar of Troy. Congratulations to all. Eric Movalson was home this past weekend for some hunting in some of this favorite places, but reported no luck. Joe and Sharon Chalmers are back after a nice vacation touring Tennessee, North Carolina, and northern Virginia. Mr. Chalmers says he and Sharon are "just a class above vagrants." In reality, they did their planning before the trip and stayed at some very nice places along the way. Tom Coffey has been in the village this week taking care of his antique business. He entertained guests from Minnesota, who also deal in antiques. Jim Dyer has recovered from back pain sufficiently to deal with everyday chores. Jim and Ann traveled to Greensville to visit Ann Wright and to celebrate Mrs. Dyer's birthday by going to their favorite eatery. Dot Glashaw is done with her summer job and is volunteering at the Hope Chest resale store in St. Ignace on Wednesdays. Hope Chest still needs volunteers to help sort clothing and stock shelves. Remember, November 17, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., everyone is invited to help put out the winter merchandise. Morgan Gustafson spent Saturday evening with grandmother Joyce Gustafson, and had her all to herself. Kristi Gustafson celebrated her birthday with friends in Cheboygan. Bob Berry is done with his summer employment on Mackinac Island. He and Ellen are looking for snow, as they are avid cross country skiers. Thora Shepard hosted the last Secret Pals party at her home Monday evening. We all brought our favorite dish for dinner. Pals attending were Dot Glashaw, Sharon Smith, Brenda Spencer, Anita Dumas, Jerri Rose, Pega Kennedy, Lois Movalson, and our hostess. Thora entertained us with a story about a Yeti who was wandering around the neighborhood. His last stop was my front porch, where he sat down to talk. As the story went on, I became aware there was something behind me. When I turned, there was a scary, big "Yeti" standing there, seemingly ready to haul me off. Screams ensued, then laughter, as we all realized it was Jack Shepard helping out with a great Halloween story. Thora and Anita had the house decorated with all things of the season, witches, goblins, pumpkins of every size and description. Pega Kennedy hosted a jewelry party at her home for friends and neighbors. John Kennedy went to hunting camp in Cheboygan. Cathy Peters has returned home to Pinconning after spending the better part of her summer camping at the Lake Michigan park. Roy Ragland was a Saturday morning coffee drinker with Dave Movalson. Roy and his wife, Linda, have been traveling around the country this summer. Happy birthday to Kayley Lasley November 10. Linda Dotts and Jim Dyer celebrate birthdays November 15. |
